The labor battle continues to heat up all over the country as Wisconsin, Indiana, Tennessee, and Ohio lawmakers are in various stages of passing legislation that would end compulsory unionism and close budget shortfalls. Despite huge protests, media coverage, attempted filibusters and walk-outs, progress has been made in Wisconsin over the last few hours.

Here’s some good news for educators this spring: You could receive up to $500 from PACE for professional development or for classroom supplies. You don't have to be a PACE member to apply and the application is online. What do you have to lose?  You can host a field trip, attend a conference, buy new calculators, or pay for a graduate course. Despite protests, national headlines and Democratic lawmakers leaving the states in droves, experts are calling this landmark legislation that will change the face of public sector unions for years to come.

 
Education Reform Legislation Moves a Step Closer in Idaho

Yesterday, lawmakers in the Idaho Senate passed landmark legislation that would phase out tenure, restrict union power, and limit contracts to one year among other components. The legislation passed on a 20-15 vote and is among three bills in the legislature that are set to carry out Superintendent Tom Luna's "Students Come First" education plan.
