| PACE Provides Support to Teachers and Schools Affected by Recent Flooding |

To meet the many requests from educators, PACE enacted a special fund to provide teachers in affected areas with $100 classroom grants. Teachers were able to use these grants to purchase school supplies, classroom materials, or other student activity equipment to help their students as they faced this difficult time. PACE was able to provide relief grants to eight educators: Tim Ambrose, St. Vrain School District Margaret Aspacio, Aurora Public Schools Julie Boecking-Rowell, Weld School District 8 David Dillard, Cheyenne Mountain School District 12 Alyssa Dillard, Cheyenne Mountain School District 12 Jacque Forchette, Milliken-Johnstown School District Julie Hamilton, Academy School District 20 Carrie Woelfle, St. Vrain School District
PACE also reached out to teachers in other parts of the state to rally support, donations, and well wishes to those impacted by the flooding. PACE recently collected and delivered school supply packs to a grateful staff at Lyons Elementary School in Lyons, Colorado. “The material and emotional support our students and teachers received from PACE left a strong message to our staff that we are supported by our fellow teachers around the state,” said the principal of Lyons Elementary School Andrew Moore. “As we rebuild our town, we are able to move forward with our eyes on the horizon, knowing that we too have the ability to pay it forward to the next school in need. Thank you PACE!”
Additionally, Ms. Lee’s kindergarten class at Pine Grove Elementary in Parker, Colorado, responded to the request by conducting a school supply drive. The students were proud and excited when PACE arrived to collect the five full boxes of donated supplies to be delivered to the school in Lyons. “PACE has always been committed to supporting teachers and students in the classroom and we were thrilled to help educators in this time of need,” said PACE Executive Director Dr. Kris Enright. “We are grateful to our members across Colorado who make the work we do possible.” PACE regularly provides scholarships and classroom grants for Colorado teachers twice a year. Classroom grants can help pay for a class project and scholarships are used to cover a wide variety of expenses including tuition, books, conferences, and workshops. All educators in Colorado are eligible. The next application deadline is March 1, 2014.
