Immediate Member Action Needed: Contact State Legislators: Support HB 1333

Dear PACE Members and Concerned Educators,

PACE is asking for you to express your support to your legislators for HB 1333, a bill that will ensure fair treatment among teacher associations in Colorado.

Currently in many of Colorado's largest school districts, teachers are currently required to pay union dues unless they cancel their membership during 2-3 week window in the fall. HB 1333 would ensure that teachers be afforded the right to revoke their membership of any association, at any time and for any reason. 

We hope that you will let all Colorado elected officials know of your support. Find your legislator's contact information and use the sample language for a letter of support below.

I am writing to you in support of HB 1333, a proposal that would empower teachers and promote fairness for teacher associations in Colorado.

As a member of the Professional Association of Colorado Educators (PACE), I believe ALL teachers, no matter which professional association they choose to join, should be treated fairly. HB 1333 will require unions to cancel a teacher's membership within 30 days of such a request, offering teachers the choice to control their dues contributions through the elimination of revocation periods.

I am proud to be a member of PACE, a non-union, nonpartisan organization with a growing membership in Colorado. PACE offers teachers professional benefits including liability insurance and legal protections but at a fraction of the cost. My hope is that teachers across the state make informed decisions with regard to association membership. By enacting HB 1333, teachers will once again be in control and all associations in the state will be treated fairly.

I urge you to vote "yes"on HB 1333. No one teacher association should gain an unfair advantage in Colorado.
