Risks Facing K-12 Educators Today

As you know, there are many uncertainties associated with working in a complex teaching environment. Today's school environment is much different than a decade ago, or even a year ago. Educators face significant risks everyday. Even if you've done nothing wrong, allegations can be made against you. These false allegations may include:

  • Failure to educate or recognize learning disabilities
  • Negligent supervision of your students - in the classroom, school halls, outside premises, even on field trips
  • Failure to safeguard against injuries to students during the regular school day, special events, or other authorized school activities
  • Improper counseling or evaluation of students
  • Failure to recognize or report abuse or social misconduct
  • Verbal abuse or assault of students
  • Failure to secure medical attention when a child requires it
  • Sexual misconduct and discrimination
