A whopping 72% of teachers agree with a policy that would create a clearer pathway to receive initial entry into the profession.

Supports Creating a Pathway for “Innovation” Teachers

Englewood, CO – The Professional Association of Colorado Educators recently polled member educators about the merits of education reform in Colorado. One of the themes that remained constant was the empowerment of educators to have control over their own classrooms. A whopping 81% of teachers agree with a policy that would give teachers more flexibility in the classroom by creating a process through which they can apply for waivers from certain local, state and federal mandates.

Supports Depositing Percentage of Student Funding into Classroom Account

Englewood, CO – The Professional Association of Colorado Educators recently polled member educators about the merits of education reform in Colorado. One of the themes that remained constant was the empowerment of educators to have control over their own classrooms. A whopping 77% of teachers agree with a policy that would require the deposit of a percentage of per-pupil funding into a classroom account to be used by a teacher on the classroom level.

National Board Certification for Principals Debated

National Board Certification is one of the most highly esteemed professional certifications a teacher can achieve. In 2009, the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) began creating a similar certification program for school principals.  With a pilot group of 120 principals invested in the program, the NBPTS executive board is now deciding on whether or not to scrap the program entirely.

Survey results show forward-thinking stances on policy changes, from pension reform to how we license teachers.

By this point, anyone paying attention to trends in education is familiar with the concept of a flipped classroom.  In this model, the teacher assigns the lectures as "homework” in video form and then works with the students by going through what usually would have been assigned for homework in class.  The model has a lot of advantages.  It allows students to work at their own pace, and for the teacher to give extra help where it’s needed.
