For the past three years, PACE has partnered with Laradon’s Alternative School to strengthen learning for students with developmental disabilities and co-existing psychiatric/behavioral disorders. PACE has supported Laradon’s teachers by helping to ensure they have the resources they need to do their jobs effectively, boosting student learning and enriching classroom environments.

On a recent PACE survey, 88% of teachers indicated their support for the ability to choose, instead of the current PERA model, to have their money invested in a portable account that they can take with them should they move out of the state or change careers.

PACE Supports Retirement Portability for Teachers

Englewood, CO – The Professional Association of Colorado Educators (PACE), the state’s premiere non-union organization, recently polled member educators about the merits of education reform in Colorado. One of the themes that remained constant was the need to attract and retain talented teachers. Poll results determined that 89% of teachers agree with a policy that would give teachers the option to have their pension contributions invested in a portable, 401(k) style retirement account.

“I have always supported job portability,” said Aurora Public Schools teacher Jill Cullis. “Many teachers get stuck in a district until they retire or die.”
